Taipei, Taiwan (Tech Messenger) -- PLANET Technology Corporation today announces the new state-of-the-art 24-Port 100Base-FX + 2-Gigabit Web/Smart Switch (FGSW-2624SF). The PLANET FGSW-2624SF is equipped with 24-Port 100Base-FX SFP (Small Factor Pluggable) ports and 2 Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports (Port 25, 26). The 24 100Base-FX SFP ports are with high reliability and flexibility to extend the distance up to 2Km, 20Km, or longer. It depends on the 100Base-FX SFP transceiver modules. And the two Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports can be either 1000Base-T for 10/100/1000Mbps or 1000Base-SX/LX through SFP.
The FGSW-2624SF is designed for the applications, such as FTTx installation for ISPs, Campuses and enterprises. The fiber-Optic wires on the basis of distance are flexibly provided. Therefore, the product will perfectly satisfy the diverse demands while providing reliable and efficient network solutions based on the distance and budgets of installation.
The FGSW-2624SF is equipped with non-blocking 8.8Gbps backplane greatly simplifies the tasks for upgrading your LAN to cater increased bandwidth demands.
For efficient management, the FGSW-2624SF Web Smart Switch is equipped with web interface. The FGSW-2624SF can be programmed for basic functions of switch management, such as port speed configuration, Port Trunking, VLAN, Port Mirroring, QoS, bandwidth control, Access Control list and Misc Configuration.
The FGSW-2624SF provides port-based VLAN (including overlapping) and 802.1Q Tag-based VLAN. The VLAN groups allowed the FGSW-2624SF to be maximal up to 26 for port-based VLAN. Via supporting port trunking, the FGSW-2624SF allows the operation of high-speed trunk combining multiple ports. The FGSW-2624SF provides seven groups which is up to 8-ports for trunking and it supports fail-over as well.

Application
FTTx Node Switch
With 24 100Base-FX SFP ports and 2 Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports, the switch provides a cost-effective, high-performance for FTTx solutions. To build a network solution of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) or FTTC (Fiber to the Curb) for ISPs and FTTB (Fiber to the Building) for enterprise, the various distances of SFP (small-form factor) and Bidi (WDM) transceivers are optional for customers. Comparing with traditional fiber switch that equipped fixed distance (2Km) and connection mode (SC only), the 24 SFP ports provides flexible solution for ISPs and enterprises. In addition, the 2 gigabit TP/SFP combo ports can be used as uplink port which connects to the data centers and backbones.
MTU Switch
In an MTU (Multi Tenant Unit) /MDU (Multi Dwelling Unit) application, the advanced functionality of the FGSW-2624SF eliminates traditional problems associated with Ethernet. Using the built-in VLAN functionality can segregate users. This coupled with the flexible fiber module options makes the FGSW-2624SF be one of the best cost-effective switch solutions for multi-tenant service providers.
Backbone Switch
With up to 8.8 Gigabits per second of non-blocking switch fabric, the switch can easily provide the high bandwidth required now and in the future. With the two Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports, the FGSW-2624SF provides the uplink to the core network through Gigabit Ethernet SX/LX modules.
