The ACS-78100 controller can be used to build eSATA RAID systems to support various applications like professional video editing, disk-based archival, or backend data storage of multi-purpose servers. It can be also used as an internal RAID module inside a system, like industrial computers or digital video recorders.
Stunning 300MB/s Bandwidth
The 3Gb/s eSATA host interface of ACS-78100 controller provides 300MBps data bandwidth, which is much higher than USB2.0 (60 MB/s) or 1394ab (50/100 MB/s), and the same as Serial Attached SCSI (SAS). Also featuring super-pipelined RISC technology-based IO processor and up to 1GB DDR SDRAM cache memory, the ACS-78100 controller can easily satisfy most performance-demanding applications.
Pervasive and Low-Cost Connectivity
As SATA or eSATA has become a popular I/O connection for all motherboards in the market, by either the on-board connectors or the dongle boards, it is very convenient for users to attach the ACS-78100-based RAID storage to the host computers. In addition to the easy installation and mobility, the ACS-78100 controller is also a cost-effective solution because of no extra adapters like SCSI or SAS needed.
Dependable RAID Protection
The ACS-78100 features enterprise-class RAID technologies that not only protect data against disk drive failure but also proactively reduce the chances of RAID degradation. It supports online disk scrubbing to periodically scan disk media and recover any bad sectors detected. With online disk cloning, when SMART warnings are alerted by a disk drive or there are too many bad sectors, the controller will online copy data of the disk drive to spare disks to avoid RAID degradation.
